The Korean Resource Center is looking for two motivated and enthusiastic SUMMER 2009 INTERNS who are interested in furthering social justice in Southern California.
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
The Korean Resource Center (KRC) empowers the Korean American, low-income immigrant and people of color communities through social services, education, culture, advocacy, and grassroots organizing. More information at krcla.org
JOB DESCRIPTION
Each intern may work in one of the following project areas:
1. Health Access Intern: support in the three areas of health reform and language access advocacy, organizing and educating Korean American seniors, and ongoing service casework.
2. Immigrant Rights Intern: support for immigration reform and DREAM Act campaign, youth organizing, and community education.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) internship, over a two month period. Some weekends and weeknights action/event participation may be necessary. A small stipend will be provided. KRC is able to provide room and board in its facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Commitment to social justice; agreement with KRC’s organizing model which combines social services and advocacy. Bilingual language abilities in Korean and English a plus.
