Stop Budget Cuts
—————————————————————–
The recent proposed cuts in health and human services will bring
immediate disaster and undue hardships to our communities. Please
sign a petition [krcla.org/en/budget] to the Governor and
State legislators urging them to protect Medi-Cal, CAPI, CalWORKS
and Foodstamps for lawfully present low-income immigrant
families, and Healthy Families Program for all children.
Demanding Justice and Civil Rights
—————————————————————–
For months, social justice groups across the nation have had
Sheriff Joe Arpaio on their radar as one of the worst
manifestations of our broken immigration system. Groups gathered
in Arizona on January 16th to spotlight the ongoing gross civil

Trail of Dreams
—————————————————————–
[trail2010.org/] Four immigrant students are embarking in
a 1,500-mile walk from Miami, Florida, to Washington, D.C. They
walk to share our stories with everyday Americans – to share what
it’s like for millions of immigrants and young people to be
unable to fully participate in society. It’s about time that our
country came together to fix a failed system that keeps millions
in the shadows, with no opportunity for a better life. Find out
more at the Trail of Dreams website [trail2010.org/].
KRC is also planning a solidarity march in LA on February 27th.
Stay tuned!
Apply to become a Redistricting Commission member!
—————————————————————–
[www.facebook.com/cap..]Every ten years, we draw new
borders of legislative and executive districts. To foster
political neutrality, a commission made up of citizens will take
charge of the process for the state legislature and Board of
Equalization in 2011.
KRC encourages women, immigrants and people of color to apply to
become a commission member to ensure fair representation of
minority communities. The deadline for the initial application is
February 12th!
