Struggling Asians and Pacific Islanders Tell Their Stories: Seniors and Families Coping with Severe Budget Cuts Speak Out and Demand Solutions

What: A press conference calling for budget solutions and marking the release of Fractured Justice, a storybook highlighting the individual impact of devastating budget cuts on diverse Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities

Why: In his January 8th budget proposal, Governor Schwarzenegger attempts to address California’s $19.9 billion deficit by dismantling services that are essential to the health and survival of API families coping with the economic downturn. The governor fails to offer revenue-raising solutions that would protect the state’s most vulnerable residents and instead proposes to eliminate children’s health services and basic aid to vulnerable seniors.
