campaign, and next Monday is the first day
at which we are calling voters! Those who
make the most calls will get fabulous prizes,
including a KRC 2008 Anniversary Dinner

KRC, NAKASEC and
MIV are publishing voter guides for the
community! They contain recommendations
on the propositions, voter’s rights, the
electoral system, and much more. You may
get them through one of the following ways:

1. If you were a registered Korean American
voter as of
4/20/08 and live in Los Angeles County,
you will be getting a copy of KRC and NAKASEC’s
voter guides in the mail this week.

2. Visit krcla.org/en/Voter_Guides
to view the voter guides online.

3. You can stop by at the office of KRC
or the Orange
County U.S.-Korean Citizen’s League
to pick up a copy of either
voter guide.

4. If you represent an organization,
sign up to become a MIV partner and you
can get hundreds of bilingual voter guides

권고 사항, 유권자 권리, 선거 제도 등 유권자들이
알아야 할 사항이 수록 되어 있습니다. 다음

ab540 is still the law!
Joint Press Release

On
September 15, 2008, the 3rd District Court
of Appeal in Sacramento reversed a trial
court’s decision dismissing a challenge
to AB 540, California’s in-state tuition
law. This intermediate court’s ruling,
if allowed to stand, would return the case
to the Superior Court for trial. However,
the court did not invalidate AB 540; the
law remains in effect. [more]

guide lays out the rights of undocumented
immigrant students in K-12 and postsecondary
institutions. The guide focuses on Asian
American & Pacific Islander communities
who have been differently and specifically
impacted by admissions and in-state tuition
policies.

future starts w/healthy children
SCHIP,
better known in its implementation as "Healthy
Families Program" and "Children’s
Medi-Cal", is due to expire on March
31, 2009. Without re-authorization, along
with expanded coverage, at least 31 states
will run out of funding and millions of
kids will not be able to lead happy and
healthy lives.

Tell congressional leadership and presidential
candidates that you support coverage for
all children and oppose attempts to weaken
the program by reducing the number of eligible
children.

it would be damn honest one. When you vote
on a proposition, you are voting on a piece
of legislation, and everything in it will
be carried out faithfully. There are many

elections, and we must stop them all.
