This year’s theme is “Rooted in Community, Empowering the Community!” As we witness the severe economic challenges and cuts in many social and health safety net programs, our community members are facing many hardships. The dinner marks an opportunity to come together as a community to reflect our accomplishments as well as reaffirm and sustain our commitment to our organizational mission of social justice as well as continue to provide needed social and health services.

The 27th annual Asian Pacific Awareness Conference, hosted by the UCI Asian Pacific Student Association, the Cross-Cultural Center at UCI, and the UCI Asian American Studies department, will take place on Saturday January 28th at the UCI Student Center from 8:00am to 6:30pm. The theme of the conference this year is “The Movement, Then and Now”

You’ve probably never heard of the talk show called ‘John & Ken Show’ on KFI-640 radio but they have been on air for over a decade and have over 1.1 million listeners in Los Angeles every week.
The Korean Resource Center will join other concerned Korean American organizations to speak out against the recent anti-Korean rhetoric expressed by co-host John Kobylt (KFI 640) during the January 5 broadcast of Clear Channel’s John and Ken Show.

Talk show hosts, John & Ken (KFI AM 640), made racist comments about Korean American stereotypes on their show this week. As a part of the Korean American community in Los Angeles, we are offended and concerned about ‘hate talk-shows’ like this that spread hate rhetoric in the name of free speech.
Hansong Buffet and the Korean Resource Center have organized a day of culture on the occasion of the Korean New Year (Seollal) on January 21st. A variety of folkloric games such as Yut Nori and Neolttwigi will be opening up to visitors, as well a cultural performances by KRC’s cultural troupe Han Nu Ri, Jang Gu Hak Dang, and Baram Sori.
