2006년 7월부터 한인들의 시민권 신청을 도와온 민족학교가 나성법률보조재단과 함께 시민권 인터뷰 개정 전 신청을 원하는 한인들을 위해 ‘무료 시민권 신청 클리닉’을 개최합니다. 이번 클리닉은 이민자 커뮤니티가 독립기념일이 있는 7월을 맞아 일제히 개최하는 시민 참여 캠페인의 일환으로 개최되는 것입니다. (more…)

갈수록 더 심각해 지는 주 의회의 이민자 의료 및 복지 프로그램 삭감을 막기 위해 민족학교는 서명 캠페인을 진행했으며 이 서명용지를 6월 27일 주지사 사무실에 전달 하는 예산 삭감 반대 집회를 가지려고 합니다. 당당히 세금을 내고 있는 이민자들을 차별하는 이런 부당한 정책에 우리 이민자 커뮤니티가 가만히 앉아서 지켜 볼 수 만은 없습니다. (more…)

“Protecting All California Seniors and Children!”

(Los Angeles, CA) During this critical moment of deliberations over California’s state budget, approximately 200 California residents, including children and elderly will gather in front of Governor Schwarzenegger’s Los Angeles District Office to voice opposition to cuts to health and human service programs. At that time, community members and advocates will also deliver over 7,000 signatures, collected in just 7 days, from Californians requesting that the Governor reconsider cuts to vital safety net programs. Prop. 98 holds out the false promise of “eminent domain” reform, but instead obliterates Californian’s rights to fair housing.

At a rally and press conference in front of the Los Angeles City Hall on Wednesday, May 28th, community members will have a chance to sign up for “Get Out The Vote” phone-banking and precinct walking for the last weekend before the June 3rd election. Speakers will talk about how Prop. 98, also known as the “Hidden Agendas Scheme,” will affect them and what it will do to their communities’ landscape.
