KRC has
educated the Korean American community about
credit and has now expanded our range of
financial literacy programs to include homeownership.
KRC will hold an educational workshop about
home-buying process, short sale, and houses
for sale. In this workshop, many specialists
of the real-estate industry will answers

a tea house fundraiser for a field trip

July 11 Naturalization Ceremony Voter
Registration!
There
is a naturalization ceremony on Friday,
July 11 hosted by KRC; it is located at
the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC).
 The first shift will begin at 9AM
and end around 11AM and the second shift
will begin at 2PM and end around 4PM.  We
will have a booth set up outside to have
these new citizens register to vote. Our
goal is to register 50 Korean-Americans
by the end of the day.

But we do need volunteers, of course.
We have enough volunteers for the second
shift starting at 2, but we still need around
10 volunteers for the morning shift. All
volunteers will be trained the day of the
ceremony. Any and all help is appreciated.

California
is facing an estimated $17.2 billion deficit;
on May 14, Governor Schwarzenegger released
his revised budget for the 2008-2009 fiscal
year. The deep cuts to Health and Human
Services (an estimated $2.9 billion) can
be troubling for low-income families, seniors,
the disabled and immigrants.

What
can we do?

our dozens of volunteers, who made it possible
to carry out a Get-Out-The-Vote campaign
which included mailing 18,000 voter guides,
phone-banking to 5,000 voters and visiting
2,000 households to educate them on
Prop 98. Over 90% of those contacted said
that they would go vote, and that they would
vote NO on Prop. 98, and YES on Prop.

5월14일에
슈와제너거 주지사는 2008년-2009년 회계년도
개정 예산안을 발표했습니다. 저소득 가정,
연장자, 장애인, 이민자를 위한 사회복지 혜택을
삭감하는 이번 예산안은 받아 들일 수 없는
불공정한 것입니다. 우리의 의견을 주장하기에는
지금 6월이 최적기 입니다. 

우리가
지금 할 수 있는 일은 아래와 같습니다

삭감 반대에 서명하십시오.

이번 주말에 마쳇과 교회에서 서명을 받는
것을 도와 주세요!

미교협은 98번 발의안을 막아내는 캠페인에
큰 활약을 보인 수십명의 자원봉사자들에게
감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 여러분의 노력으로
18,000명의  유권자에게 투표 안내서를
우편 발송하였고, 5,000 명에게 전화를 걸었으며,
2,000 가구를 직접 방문했습니다. 그 결과
연락을 받은 유권자 중 90% 이상이 선거 날에
투표하고 98번에는 반대, 99번에는 찬성을
