many Americans on healthcare,
jobs, immigration. Grandma Kim
and Grandma Hur Soon Hee joined
a NAKASEC and affiliated mobilized
contingent of 55 Asian Pacific
Americans to travel 350 miles
over 6 hours from Chicago to

Americans make the top 10 in numbers of
voting-age immigrants who recently became
citizens - about 320,000 new citizens
over the past few years. With these citizens
registering to vote and actively participating
in elections, we get that much closer to
our community's political empowerment.

대선후보 간담회는 민주주의가 무엇인지 제대로
보여준 행사였다. 선거과정에 일반 시민들이
적극 개입해 진정한 의미의 국민의 국민에
의한 정치를 구현하는 모습을 보여주었다.
선거 때만 되면 갑자기 국민들의 목소리에
귀 기울이는 정치인들에게 이전부터 삶의 현장에서
매일 벌어지고 있던 갖가지 실태를 똑똑히
들려주는 소중한 기회였다.

One
thing is certain: because thousands of participants
nationwide and specifically from Iowa gathered
at the Heartland Presidential Forum, no
candidate could refuse to attend even in
knowledge that they would be pushed on delicate issues
they would rather not talk about. Voters
flexed their muscle and broke the Democratic
party's number one campaign rule: "avoid
controversial issues". Let's go after
their second rule, which consists of making no commitments.
