The Summer Youth Empowerment Program at the Korean Resource Center seeks to develop future community leaders and focuses on social justice and volunteering, visual production, culture and identity.

  • For Who? High School Students (8th through 11th)
  • Date: July 7th – August 27th
  • When? Mondays through Thursdays, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • What will you learn?
    • Digital Media: equipped with your own video camera, learn how to tell a story while learning about yourself and your community.
    • Arts and Culture: learn poongmul (traditional Korean drumming) and create art.
    • Society and JusticeL why do some people have a lot, while others don’t? why do some people get treated differently than others? who are we as Korean Americans?
  • How to apply:
    • Submit application, and interview.
    • Application is available at KRC's website (krcla.org/english) and KRC office
    • Seating limit: 10 students
  • Application deadline: postmarked or delivered to KRC's office by Monday, June 22nd, 5:00 PM (postponed from June 12)

    • The program is free. No costs are involved.

During this critical moment in our community, KRC has created a place for young people to discuss immigrant and civil rights issues, develop their leadership, and redefine their identity as Korean Americans through education, the arts, and culture.

July 5 -August 11 6 week program

Projects Components i. Political Power ii. Digital Documentary iii. Fish Contamination iv. Korean Traditional Percussion: Poongmul

Mondays to Thursday 2pm-5pm Fee: $50

Empowerment Project Workshop June 16 @ 6:30pm @ KRC
