KRC's Activities at a Glance

  • KRC signed on to a letter to the Los Angeles County Supervisors with other organizations and individuals regarding the future of the Martin Luther King-Harbor public hospital.  The letter made recommendations which will alleviate the difficulties the hospital's closure may have on the area's residents.
  • ORAnGE members and students at the Summer Youth Empowerment Program collected 370 DREAM Postcards between July 15th and August 7th. (pictures)
  • 8.11 KRC & NAKASEC joined in a solidarity rally with hotel workers at Wilshire Plaza Hotel.
  • 8.15 HanNuRi, KRC's Poongmul Cultural Troupe, performed at MacArthur Park in the occasion of Korea's Independence Day.
  • 8.16 Having Our Say 's press teleconference discussed a report which looked at how health reform proposals affected communities of color.  If AB8 (Nunez/Perata) or the Governor's proposal passes, 7 of the 10 newly insured Californians will be from a community of color.
  • 8.17 Nine students graduated from KRC & NAKASEC's Summer Youth Empowerment Program, and premiered their documentary. (pictures)
  • 8.19 Over eighty friends and supporters joined a commemoratory gathering at KRC to recall Han Bong Yoon's contribution to the Korean American progressive movement and reaffirm our commitment to his legacy of "continuous learning" and "making the movement part of our lives" (pictures)
  • 8.20 Poongmul players joined a vigil for Elvira Arellano, Saulito, and humane immigration reform. Sookyung Oh spoke on the irrationality of an administration that forces children to be separated from their mothers. (pictures)
  • 8.20 KRC The K.W. Lee Center's Health Reform round-table discussion brought together legislative aides, community advocates, and concerned citizens to look at the Korean community's low health insurance rates.  The round-table opened up to different viewpoints to causes and potential strategies for raising awareness.
