Governor Schwarzenegger’s May Revise Proposal Directly Targets Immigrant Communities

What: A press conference highlighting the massive increases to the already deep cuts in public benefit programs like Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Cash Assistance for Permanent Residents (CAPI), In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) and the Naturalization Services Program (NSP).

When: Wednesday, June 4, 2008 11:00 AM

Where: Korean Resource Center

900 S. Crenshaw Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA. 90019

Who: Ju Yeon Ryu, Community Organizer, Korean Resource Center (KRC)
Mari Lopez, Health Policy Specialist, California Partnership
Jeon, Tae Soon, Community Health Promoter (Korean American Senior)
Yang Hee Park, Health Access Service Coordinator, Korean Resource Center (KRC)

Why: Governor Schwarzenegger proposes to cut $1.5 billion in aid for the most vulnerable members of our state, targeting more specifically immigrant communities. The revised budget includes additional cuts that will have devastating impacts on the health and well-being of low-income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities by reducing their access to health programs and services while decreasing the amount for cash assistance programs. The Korean American community must act and voice an opposition to cutting programs that are vital to the poorest people in the state.
