HR120, Resolution to Commemorate 5.18, Passes

KRC joins the celebration ceremony

HR 120, which proclaims May 18, 2022, and each May 18 thereafter, as the anniversary of the 5.18 Democratization Movement in California, was passed unanimously by the California State Assembly. The resolution was authored by Reps Steven Choi (R), Ken Cooley (D), Sharon Quirk-Silva (D), and Miguel Santiago (D).

Since its foundation in 1983, the Korean Resource Center has been organizing the commemoration of the 5.18 Democratization Movement in Southern California despite the interference by the South Korean government, then under a military dictatorship.
